Executive communication coaching is a specialty inside the leadership coaching field. We focus on the communication skills essential for success — building a message, delivering it, holding attention, and handling challenging situations and people. Executive coach Laurie Schloff describes what distinguishes Partners in Communication: the primary focus on skills which lead to positive presence and results, along with building confidence and a winning mindset.

Business results and measurable change are guaranteed.

The people we primarily coach are at director level and above. Most companies invest in high-potential leaders, and many clients are self-referred as well.

Our worldwide clients enjoy virtual sessions, and in-person sessions are welcomed as well. Video feedback and customized materials are included in every training experience. There is more on how an engagement runs.

The sequence of executive communication coaching

  1. Initial consult and goal planning
  2. Customized topics and application to your situations

Popular topics include:

  • Identifying communication strengths and opportunities
  • Conveying data and information clearly and succinctly
  • Utilizing confident and impactful oral and nonverbal delivery
  • Incorporating effective speaking rate, voice and clarity
  • Enhancing persuasive verbal messaging
  • Structuring and organizing interaction
  • Leading and facilitating engaging meetings
  • Preparation and practice strategies
  • Using slides and data effectively
  • Controlling quantity and complexity of detail
  • Handling questions, objections and challenging conversations
  • Conveying ideas and feedback diplomatically
  • Controlling nervousness and stressful situations
  • Analyzing and adjusting to diverse listener needs
  • Enhancing professional presence in meetings
  • Expert, peer and video coaching
  • Practice and feedback in simulated business situations

Application to upcoming meetings and situations is ongoing. All of it is drawn from the Presence26™ System, the twenty-six competencies this practice teaches from.

Who this is for

If this is for your team

You have leaders whose technical judgement is not in question and whose communication is holding them back — in front of a board, a client, or their own people. We build the program around what your organization actually needs, and measure it against that.

  • Group workshops for a cohort, three to six sessions
  • Individual coaching for high-potential professionals
  • Feedback gathered from expert, peer, video and client sources
  • Outstanding coaches

If this is for you

You are moving into a higher-level role, or an important meeting is coming up, or you have received feedback that your technical knowledge surpasses your delivery skills. Coaching is built around your needs and situations — there is no fixed curriculum at PIC.

  • An initial complimentary meeting
  • Ten to twenty one-hour sessions, scheduled around your calendar
  • Customized agendas and materials, not an off-the-shelf course
  • Audio and video feedback
  • Communication and video learning between sessions, with monthly follow-up afterwards

What’s included

One-to-one executive communication program

A thirty-minute complimentary consultation, assessment and goal planning, then ten to twenty one-hour sessions with customized agendas, materials, and audio and video feedback. Communication between sessions is included, and there is monthly follow-up on progress afterwards.

Group program

A complimentary thirty-minute initial consult, then a needs assessment and plan with customized goals and topics, then three to six virtual ninety-minute groups. Feedback comes from four directions — expert, peer, video and client self-assessment.

A combination of group and one-to-one coaching is ideal

Our ideal engagement is a small group experience along with select members who also receive individual coaching. The group builds a shared language and a peer coaching experience; the one-to-ones focus on customized goals designed for the needs of each participant.

The Presence26© System behind this work

Proof

Laurie is just simply "awesome", she will bring you to places that you never thought were possible. Working with Laurie has really been transformational for me, to say the least. Her sessions go way beyond teaching you to speak at a presentation. Words could never describe what Laurie has taught me. She is an inspiration who not only helped me understand how to increase my self-confidence, but also coached me on how to be committed to preparation/readiness.

Discuss your program

Common questions

Both, and they work best together. One-to-one includes ten to twenty one-hour sessions built around your goals. Group work incorporates three to six ninety-minute sessions. We find that the most effective engagement combines group and individual coaching experiences.

Program goals are set at the outset, and you and your coach track progress throughout the engagement. Feedback is collected from the coach, from peers in the group, from leaders, from video review and from self-assessment. Application of techniques in business situations is observed and measured with customized feedback checklists.

Both, and virtual is the most requested. Ninety percent of our clients choose virtual, as teams are dispersed and often international. We are happy to lead on-site programs when requested.
