Who we help
Communication coaching for financial services
For leaders whose audiences are skeptical by profession, and whose words get repeated afterwards.

Laurie reads every inquiry personally and generally replies within one business day.
Communication coaching for financial services deals with a room that listens differently. Your audiences are numerate, professionally skeptical, and used to being sold to — so the things that work elsewhere, the sweeping claim and the confident round number, work against you here. Meanwhile what you say is quoted afterwards, sometimes accurately, and there are sentences you are simply not free to say.
Finance and insurance are among the four industries this practice has concentrated in across thirty years. The work is usually with managing directors, heads of function, client-facing partners, and the leaders who have to hold an all-hands together during a quarter nobody enjoyed.
When finance leaders usually call us
- A pitch or a client review is coming and the shortlist is three firms who all look competent on paper.
- A board or committee presentation has to be exact and still persuasive, which are not the same discipline.
- A town hall lands in the middle of a restructure, a merger, or a quarter that went badly.
- A technically brilliant analyst has been promoted into a job that is mostly speaking.
- A senior leader is credible one-to-one and disappears in a large room.
- Client-facing teams present inconsistently, and it is starting to show in win rates.
Precision and persuasion at the same time
Most coaching in this sector is really about the collision between two requirements: be accurate, and be worth listening to. The competencies that carry it are the three methods of persuasion and speaking to the executive level, alongside the unglamorous work of controlling how much detail a room actually wants.
For a crisis, a rollout or a merger announcement, the shape is different again — Laurie has written about the four C’s of communicating in a crisis, which is the framework we would work from. What we do not do is write your disclosures; we work on whether the person delivering them is believed.
One leader, or the whole client-facing team
Group programs run as three to six ninety-minute sessions and are priced by the day, quoted per coach so a large team gets properly staffed. Individual coaching runs ten to twenty sessions around whatever is actually in the calendar. Both start with the same complimentary thirty-minute conversation, and how an engagement runs publishes the structures and the prices in full.

Last Thursday at my all-hands meeting, I used the techniques that I had learned from Laurie… I got a call from one of our utilization management medical directors right after the webinar who told me, “not even 50 words came out of your mouth, and I knew that this was going to be an excellent presentation.
