Who we help
Communication coaching for technology companies
For the engineer, founder or product leader whose thinking is better than their explaining, and who knows it.

Laurie reads every inquiry personally and generally replies within one business day.
Communication coaching for technology companies almost always starts as a translation problem. You can hold the whole architecture in your head; the executive committee cannot, does not want to, and is deciding anyway. Being asked to simplify feels like being asked to be wrong, so most technical leaders either flatten the substance or drown the room — and both read, to the people watching, as somebody not quite ready for the bigger job.
The work here is with founders, engineering and product leaders, heads of data and security, and the high-potential individual contributors being moved toward roles that are mostly speaking. Technology is one of the four industries this practice has concentrated in.
When technology leaders usually call us
- A funding round is starting and the story has to work for people who will not evaluate the code.
- A staff engineer or principal is being moved toward a role that is mostly presenting.
- Roadmap and architecture reviews keep ending without a decision.
- An incident, an outage or a security event has to be explained to customers or to the whole company.
- The team is distributed and video-first, so every impression is formed through a laptop camera.
- A leader working in English as an additional language wants their ideas to land as sharply as they think them.
Depth without drowning the room
None of this is about dumbing anything down. It is about knowing which three facts change the decision and keeping the other forty in reserve for the questions — a harder discipline than saying everything, not an easier one. In the system those are competencies two and twenty-five: conveying complex information and controlling detail, then speaking to the executive level.
Laurie has written the practical version of this in strategies for conveying technical and complex information. For teams working across languages, the same sessions can run alongside enhancing speech clarity for non-native speakers.
If you are raising
A technology start-up executive came to us before a run of investor meetings — high stakes, and an equally high level of nervousness. Twenty sessions, plus a follow-up before each meeting, focused on the company story, influential messaging, controlling nerves and delivery. He went on to close three investments in the seven figures. That engagement is in the client stories, and the coaching behind it is investor pitch coaching.
